Power tips for bulk find & replace
Beyond basic word swapping, combining escape sequences, whole-word boundaries, and chained rules solves messy formatting tasks in seconds:
- Convert commas to new lines (or vice versa): With Parse
\n&\tenabled, search for,and replace with\nto turn a comma-separated list into lines—or search for\nand replace with,to join lines onto one row. - Delete unwanted text: Leave the Replace with box completely empty to strip out every occurrence of the search phrase.
- Capture groups in Regex mode: Turn on Regular expression to match patterns like dates (
(\d{4})-(\d{2})-(\d{2})) and reorder them in Replace with using$3/$2/$1.
